Terms of use
Last updated: 9 October 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and Carl Britton, who runs Look In On ("we", "us"), for using the Look In On app. By using the app you agree to them. Please also read our privacy policy, which explains how we look after your information.
Please read this first
Look In On is an app to help families and friends organise. It is not a care service, a medical service or an emergency service.
- It doesn't replace professional care, medical advice or checking on someone in person.
- Reminders and alerts depend on phones, tablets, the internet and other services working. They may sometimes be late or not arrive, so please don't rely on the app alone for anything where a delay could cause harm.
- In an emergency, always call 999.
Who can use Look In On
- You must be 18 or over to create an account.
- The person you look in on can use their own simple screen on a phone or tablet that someone in the circle sets up for them.
Your account and your circle
- You sign in with your email address and a one-time code. Please keep your email account secure, as anyone with access to it could sign in as you.
- The person who starts a circle is its first organiser. Organisers decide who joins, and can set up and remove the person's phone or tablet. Please only invite people you trust, and only share invite and setup codes with them.
- Before adding information about the person you look in on, please make sure they know about Look In On and are happy for it to be used. Where they're able to decide, it should be their choice.
- You're responsible for the information you add. Please keep it accurate, and only add what's needed to organise their day.
Using the app fairly
Please don't:
- use Look In On for anything unlawful, or to harass, harm or monitor anyone without their knowledge
- add information about someone you have no good reason to keep information about
- try to get into anyone else's account or circle, or to get round the app's security
- copy, change, sell or reverse engineer the app, or use it to build a competing product.
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms. Where it's reasonable, we'll tell you first.
Subscriptions
- Some or all of Look In On may need a subscription. The price and what it includes are shown in the app before you subscribe.
- Subscriptions are bought and managed through Apple's App Store or Google Play, under their terms. They renew automatically until you cancel, which you can do at any time in your App Store or Google Play account settings. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep access until the end of the period you've paid for.
- Refunds are handled by Apple or Google, in line with their policies and your legal rights.
- If we change the price, you'll be told in advance and can cancel before the new price applies.
Your information and content
- What you add to Look In On stays yours. You allow us to store it and show it to the people in your circle, only so the app can work.
- How we handle personal information is explained in our privacy policy.
- You can delete your account at any time; see the privacy policy for how.
Our app
- Look In On, including its design, words, logo and software, belongs to us and is protected by copyright and other laws. © 2026 Carl Britton. All rights reserved.
- We give you permission to use the app for its intended purpose while these terms apply. That permission can't be transferred to anyone else.
- We're always improving Look In On, so features may change. If we ever plan to stop the app, we'll give reasonable notice so you can save anything important.
Our responsibility to you
- We'll provide the app with reasonable care and skill. Nothing in these terms affects your legal rights as a consumer.
- Nothing in these terms limits our responsibility for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn't allow us to limit.
- Because Look In On is an organising tool and not a care or emergency service, we're not responsible for loss or harm caused by relying on it instead of checking on someone, getting professional help, or calling the emergency services, or by reminders or alerts that are late or don't arrive because of things outside our control (such as phones, the internet or other companies' services).
- We're not responsible for losses that weren't foreseeable, or for business losses: the app is for personal and family use.
Ending
- You can stop using Look In On and delete your account at any time.
- If you subscribe, cancel through your App Store or Google Play account; deleting the app on its own doesn't cancel a subscription.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms, for example when we add features or the law changes. We'll update the date at the top, and tell you in the app about any important changes before they apply.
The law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring a claim in your local courts.
